  • IS A NANNY ENTITLED TO REDUNDANCY?

Posted By: Hazel Richardson on 28th March 2019

Yes nannies are entitled to redundancy as long as they meet the qualifying criteria, which is:

    1. Aged over 18yrs
    2. Have been employed by the family for two continuous years
    3. Are employed with a PAYE scheme in place

Family circumstances can alter and the need for a full time role may no longer be there. If the family are reducing the role to part time, you, as the current nanny must be offered the part time role, which if you decide not to take means you are still entitled to redundancy unless the contract was for a fixed term.
